Item Description
US 1851-60 3 c issue about 200 imperf & 165 perf Scott 10,11, 26 etc
This lot contains stamps of the first US 3 c issue. They were issued both imperforate (1851-56) and perforated (1857-60). There are many catalog varieties of each. The imperforates are Scott 10 and 11 (different colors) and the perforates are Scott 26 and varieties (different dies and recuts). There are some pairs of the imperf issue.
This is a dream for a specialist. There are many shades of the imperf issue (virtually none identified) and many die/recut varieties of the Perforated issue to identify. Both issues are sought after for plating studies. There are interesting cancellations throughout.
As expected for these small-margined issues, condition varies. There are a fair number of 4 margin copies of the imperfs. The perfed are if anything a bit better than usual, inc. examples that are very fine for the issues. Overall a fun lot with high catalog. Starting at less than $2 per stamp.
