Item Description

This is an original Edinburgh solicitor's archive dating from 1843-1854, comprising 325 covers each franked with the 1841 1d red-brown, some multiple frankings, with various cancllations and backstamps. The stamps are unchecked for plate numbers, so some enjoyable hours of checking should reap rewards for any collector of these issues - there are some 1854 covers so high plate numbers are a possibility! As you can see from the high resolution scans, there are faults but this is normal with such archives. Many of the dirty creases can be removed with a soft eraser. I am starting the lot off at a nominal £149 with NO RESERVE.
