Item Description

!!! Stalingrad Feldpost !!!
subordinated to the 6th Army

Original Feldpost letter card from a German soldier who was with the Pioneer Battalion 45

When the soldier wrote this letter, the Battalion was directly subordinated to the legendary 6th Army for "special tasks" and fought in the city of Stalingrad. The battalion was destroyed in the battles for Stalingrad in early 1943.

!!! The cover was twice used !!!

On the cover is a field postmark from November 19, 1942 and also the very clear Feldpost stamp print of the unit

The soldier wrote the following lines:

Feldpost to Mrs Greti Laub in Neustadt at the Weinstrasse, Rathaus street 19, (Gau Westmark)
Sender: First Private Emil Laub, Feldpost # 04614

Stalingrad, November 17, 1942
Dear Greti !
Today just a quick sign of life from me. I am well and that is the most important thing! I don't know if you follow the Wehrmacht report at home, because there is a report about the heavy fighting here. We here have special orders to carry out. Please keep both fingers crossed that we will win this important victory! It is about our beloved fatherland! Soon it will be Yule (Christmas), maybe by then everything will be over! Victory and Hail, Emil
